Using Milestones to Track Deal Progress

Updated today

Milestones are an essential feature for tracking progress throughout the deal lifecycle. They offer a structured and visual way to ensure all critical actions are accounted for and completed in a timely manner. Presented in a timeline format, the Milestones tab allows users to monitor and manage deal progress with ease.

Configuring and Adding Milestones

Milestones are typically configured by admin users, setting a standard sequence that aligns with the organization’s leasing workflow. However, users also have the flexibility to add milestones ad hoc to a specific deal:

  • This is done using the edit icon on the Milestones tab.

  • Additional milestones can be tailored to the unique requirements of individual deals.

Viewing and Understanding Milestone Details

Each milestone displays key information including:

  • Milestone Title

  • Associated Deal Stage

  • Assigned User

  • Completion Status

These fields give users a quick snapshot of where the deal stands in its progression and who is responsible for each action.

Expanded Details and Interactions

Clicking into a specific milestone reveals further details such as:

  • A list of milestone watchers (users who will be notified of updates)

  • Tasks associated with the milestone

  • Notes that can be added for context or updates

Once the associated tasks are complete, users can mark the milestone as completed directly within this view.

Activity Feed and Notifications

All milestone-related actions are logged in the Activity feed, ensuring a clear audit trail. Additionally, watchers of the milestone will receive notifications when it is completed, keeping all stakeholders informed.

Reopening Milestones

In case a milestone is mistakenly marked as complete, users have the ability to reopen it. Doing so will:

  • Reassign the milestone task to the originally assigned user

  • Re-enable progress tracking and task completion
